What this policy covers

This policy describes how King County Property Tax Appeal(the "Service") collects and uses information when you visit the site at kingcountypropertytaxappeal.com or use any of its features. It applies to all users of the Service worldwide.

What we collect

From the public King County Assessor. The Service pulls parcel data (assessed values, sales records, comparable sales, prior appeals) from King County's public Assessor APIs and ArcGIS layers. We never receive your name, your buyer/seller identity, or any other personally identifying field from the County — that information is filtered out at the source per RCW 42.56.070(9).

From you, only when you submit a request. If you ask us to email a complete appeal packet, we collect the email address you submit, the parcel number (PIN) you searched for, and the original search string you typed (often an address). We use this to deliver the packet, to deduplicate repeat requests, and to credit referrals.

Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) logs request metadata — IP address, user agent, request path — for operational and abuse-prevention purposes. We do not associate these logs with the email addresses we collect.

Cookies. We set a small number of strictly necessary cookies: locale remembers your language preference; ref remembers the referral code you clicked (if any) so the referrer gets credit when you submit a request. We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or fingerprinting.

Analytics. We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count page views and measure performance. Vercel's analytics are cookieless and do not identify individual visitors.

What we do with it

  • Deliver your appeal packet as one PDF attachment to the email address you provided, through Resend.
  • Send you transactional updatesabout your packet — a confirmation that it's queued, a notification when a friend joins via your referral link, and the packet itself.
  • Prevent abuse — rate-limit by IP, detect automated submissions, deduplicate identical requests.
  • Operate and improve the Service — measure which pages are working, identify bugs.

We do not sell your email or any other personal data. We do not share it with marketers, data brokers, or any advertising platform. Ever.

Third parties we send data to

  • Resend (email delivery). Receives your email address and the packet PDF. Stored under their own privacy policy.
  • Supabase (database). Receives your email, parcel PIN, referral code, and timestamps. Encrypted at rest.
  • Vercel (hosting + analytics). Receives request metadata (IP, path, user agent) and aggregate analytics events.
  • Mapbox (static maps in PDFs). Receives parcel coordinates to render the comp-location map. Does not receive your email or PIN.

How long we keep it

Packet request records (email + PIN + timestamps + referral code) are kept indefinitely so we can: respect your idempotent re-requests, deliver the 7-day fallback packet if you didn't finish referring two friends, and email an annual reminder when next year's value notice arrives. You can have your record deleted any time by emailing the address below.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • Tell you what data we have on you.
  • Delete it.
  • Correct it.
  • Stop sending you transactional or reminder emails.

Email support@kingcountypropertytaxappeal.comfrom the address we have on file. We respond within 30 days. If you can't reach the original email, send your PIN and request from any address and we'll verify before acting.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when our data practices change. The "Last updated" date at the top tells you when. For material changes that affect how we use your data, we'll email everyone with an active packet request before the change takes effect.
